The Maitri Karma Calendar for Partners is a 27-day task calendar full of all new tasks, and comes with two lanyards, two beads behind every door, and makes two full wrist malas. Everyday partners do a task for good relationship karma, each partner threads a bead on their lanyard, and 27 days later you have completed 27 good karma tasks and both partners have made a wrist mala to celebrate the journey. Exploring this Maitri Karma Calendar with a partner will give practitioners a better understanding of how karmas effect relationships, and how relationships reflect karmas – all told through simple daily tasks and the Noble Eightfold Path. This will change every relationship in your life, including the primary one you have with your self.
What is Karma Calendar?
Karma Calendar is a light-hearted reminder that every action is a seed and there will come a time when that seed ripens. So why not practice planting beneficial seeds? By completing a karmically beneficial task everyday, and marking every deed with a bead, you can take small but meaningful steps toward a more peaceful and compassionate way of life. At the end of your 27-day journey, you will have created an authentic wrist mala to wear in honor of your karmic adventure!
What is Karma?
In its most simple terms, Karma is the idea that what you give is what you get, that every action is a seed and there will be a time those seeds are sown. These cycles last moments, years, and lifetimes.
What is a Mala?
A traditional mala is a cord of 108 beads used for counting prostrations, mantras, and/or meditations. Malas are also available in 27-bead counts (one quarter of 108) for easier travel, like the ones in our Karma Calendars. Wearing a mala is a loving reminder to practice mindful, compassionate, and skillful actions (upaya in our karmas); and to follow the practical suggestions of the Noble Eightfold Path.
Is Karma Calendar only for Buddhists?
No. Karma Calendar is for anyone interested in doing good deeds, and feeling inspired by the world around them. Although Karma Calendar is based on the ideas of the Noble Eightfold Path (a Buddhist precept), it is for anyone with an open mind and open heart.
Can I use Karma Calendar for any 27 days?
Yes! Karma Calendar has 27 doors to open with 27 tasks and beads inside, but it is not meant to be used corresponding to dates in the Western (or Gregorian) calendar. It's for ANY 27 days, ANY time of the year.
