Karma Calendar with Amethyst Wrist Mala (Dhyana)

Inspire your days with tasks of Love & Gratitude:

The Original Karma Calendar is a 27-day task calendar based on the Noble Eightfold Path that guides a practitioner towards cultivating Good Karma on a regular basis. Everyday a task, and a bead to thread on a lanyard, and 27 days later a wrist mala to celebrate the journey. Daily deeds create measurable results. Karma Calendar includes a lanyard with genuine gemstone guru bead and 27 palmwood beads behind the doors. Karma Calendar will change how you relate to yourself, and the world around you.

While all four Original Karma Calendars have the same tasks, each one individually has a different gemstone guru bead that takes its inspiration from one of the ten paramitas. Paramitas are the perfection of particular values to purify karma and lead to enlightenment. Wearing a mala is a loving reminder to practice mindful, compassionate, and skillful actions (Upaya in our Karmas); and to follow the practical suggestions of the Noble Eightfold Path.

Dhyāna Karma Calendar:

Dhyāna (Jhāna in Pali): the Sanskrit word for the cultivation of Transcendental Meditation. Dhyāna means concentration, or samadhi (single-pointedness of mind), and is associated with Right Concentration, one aspect of the Noble Eightfold Path. The Dhyāna Karma Calendar includes the wrist mala made from 27 old palmwood beads and an amethyst guru bead.

Gemstone Qualities:

On the cover:

The Buddha of the Six Perfections on the cover of our Original Karma Calendars is a replica of an original thank hand-painted by a student at the Choki Traditional Art School (CTAS) in Bhutan. This artwork represents Buddha surrounded by the Six Perfections (the original six paramitas: generosity (Dāna), morality (Śīla), patience (kṣānti), enthusiastic perseverance (Vīrya), meditation (Dhyāna), and wisdom (Prajñā), and after which the Karma Calendars are named). These virtues describe our true nature, sometimes hidden beneath delusion and fear. By cultivating these perfections we are expressing our own enlightened self.

Choki Traditional Art School:

We purchase these original artworks from Choki Traditional Art School, and also donate a portion of every sale to their school. The children of Choki Traditional Art School (CTAS) hand-paint these traditional Buddhist artworks as part of their training. The mission of CTAS is to provide university-level training in the traditional arts and crafts to disadvantaged youth of Bhutan, thereby creating an ongoing means of support for these children and their families.
